PAK-RAK™ VR Version
for Truck Vans

Following are some frequently asked questions about PAK-RAK VR version for Truck Vans.

What size van is needed to load my bike?

  • Sport Bikes - Most low silhouette sport bikes can be forwarded loaded inside a full size standard Ford or GMC van. Maximum bike height approximately 43 inches.
  • Cruisers - Most medium sized cruiser type bikes can be loaded into a standard van, but may require that the handle bars be rotated to reduce mirror height.
  • Heavy Weights - Many of the large cruisers (with convertible wind screen) may be loaded into standard vans, but will require that the handles bars be rotated to reduce mirror height, and may also require that the bike be loaded backwards onto Rail to allow bike to clear through rear door.
  • Tourers - Full size bikes with fixed windscreens will require a high-top van such as the Dodge Sprinter.

Van should be standard 2WD bed height vehicles. Available bed length to be a minimum of 96 inches for medium sized bikes and slightly longer for some heavy weights.

How difficult is installation?

  • The installation is straight forward. VR Rak components are totally assembled. The VR platform bolts down to threaded nut plates that go under the bed. These nut plates get permanently bonded to the truck at installation using supplied industrial adhesive tape. Rak power is supplied from the truck's standard battery. All required wire, connectors and fuses are supplied for the electrical connection.

Isn't this installed VR-Rak going to tie-up use of truck?

  • The installed Rak is compact, and it leaves a lot of space in bed of truck for cargo. Also, after initial installation, the loader unit can be readily removed.

Is it necessary to have a level parking lot to operate Rak?

  • No. The loading area should be reasonably level. But the design of the Rak allows it to operate on side slopes such as city streets. It is not necessary that the loading area is paved, as long as it is a hard packed surface.

What maintenance is required for VR Rak?

  • The mechanics of the Rak are very simple. There is practically no maintenance. Occasionally spray WD40 on paper towel and wipe down inside of tracks.
